# Introduction

> setlist.DJ is a shared setlist for a solo, b2b or b3b set, from one link.

setlist.DJ is a list of tracks you put together before a set, on your own or with the DJs you play with. You bring
the tracks in from where you keep them, the others rate them and say what they think, and the list ends up in the
order you play it. Everyone works on the same list from one link, and everyone sees the same list within seconds.

![The list page of Friday at Garage Noord. In the header Your lists, the yellow New list button and the initials CA. Under it a grey notice that the link is the list, with a Sign in button. Under the title the line Three of us, back to back. Warm until midnight, then up. Then Thu 12 Nov, 22:00 to 02:00, Garage Noord, 10 tracks, 1 h 09 long, and Played at 65% a track, that covers 45 min of the 4 h. 3 h 15 still to fill. On the left the initials of the three DJs, CA, AN and JU; on the right the buttons Analyse set, Add tracks, Share and a menu with three dots. Below, a panel called The set as it stands with coloured bars for every track and a white line for the BPM, and under it the first two rows of the table with title, artist, BPM, key, energy, SET score, year, time, star rating and who added the track.](https://mintcdn.com/setlist-dj/qvfs5uejTkbunr5n/guide/images/list.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=qvfs5uejTkbunr5n\&q=85\&s=d316fabe3c4ea361f73b837779c180e5)

A list three DJs are working on: the title and a line about the set, the date, times and venue, how much of the set the tracks fill, the build-up of the set, then the tracks.

## Who it is for

* **A solo DJ** who wants to shape a set before the night: see how long it runs, where the energy goes and whether
  the keys mix.
* **Two or three DJs playing back to back** who need to agree on one list, without a long chat thread.
* **A collective** that plans a night together: everyone adds, rates and comments, and the person who made the list
  decides who may do what.

## What you can do

* **Bring the tracks in** from Spotify, YouTube, SoundCloud, Beatport or rekordbox, or type them by hand. See
  [Add tracks](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/add-tracks.md).
* **Read the set at a glance.** setlist.DJ finds the BPM, key and energy of the tracks it knows (they are estimates),
gives every track a SET score for how hot it makes the room, and draws the set's build-up. See
  [Read the list](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/read-the-list.md).
* **Put it in order** by dragging the tracks, or let **Analyse set** propose an order by tempo, key and energy. It
works by fixed rules, and you decide whether to use the order. See
  [Order the set](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/order-the-set.md).
* **Listen** to a track without leaving the list. See [Play tracks](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/play-tracks.md).
* **Decide together** with stars, reactions and comments on every track, and a **Maybe** list for the ones on the fence.
  See [Share and collaborate](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/share-and-collaborate.md).
* **Take it to the booth** as a rekordbox file, a playlist file, a spreadsheet or plain text. See
  [Take it to the booth](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/take-it-to-the-booth.md).

## What you need

| You need | What for |
| - | - |
| A browser | setlist.DJ is a website, on a computer, a tablet or a phone. There is nothing to install. |
| The tracks | Links from Spotify, YouTube or SoundCloud, a rekordbox export, or the title and artist. On a computer you can also drag tracks in. |
| An account (optional) | Not needed to start. Sign in when you want to keep your lists on every device or invite someone by e-mail. |

## How a list works

**The link is the list.** Every list has its own web address, and that address is the only way in. Send it to the
other DJs and they open the same list. Anyone who has the link can open the list; there is no private list at the
moment, so send the link only to the people you want on it. As the person who made the list, you choose in
**Share** whether the link lets people edit, comment or only look. See
[Share and collaborate](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/share-and-collaborate.md).

**You start as a guest.** The first time you open setlist.DJ, it makes a list for you, and you are a guest in this
browser. The first time you change something on a list, setlist.DJ asks for your DJ name (**Who's this?**), so the
others can see who added, rated and said what. Everyone who opens your link joins the same way.

**Signing in keeps your lists.** As a guest, it is this browser that ties your lists to you. Sign in with your e-mail address (a
link in your mail, no password) or with Google, and your lists, stars and comments come with you to every device.
See [Your first list](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/your-first-list.md) and [Account and privacy](https://docs.setlist.dj/guide/account-and-privacy.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> The link keeps a list for as long as you have it, signed in or not. Signing in adds a way back: **Your lists**
> shows every list you are on, wherever you open the site.
